A series of photographs taken in the hard landscape of Krýsuvík in Iceland. Nest is a sculptural work made of licorice, jewelry, and ceramics, with ravens made with nylon stockings, wire, and thread. The photos are “filmstills” from a movie that was never made. Three women wander in nature. They encounter the natural natural elements, an unknown man and a red truck. In a surreal moment, between two worlds, the mans heart is replaced with a heart of gold and the truck is sabotaged by pouring sugar into its gas tank.

These works were created in 2004 when The Icelandic Love Corporation: Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir, Jóní Jónsdóttir and Eirún Sigurðardóttir, and i8, the gallery representing them at the time, were invited to take part in Art Statement, a special section dedicated to emerging artists at Art Basel, Switzerland.

For the opening of Art Basel, ILC made a performance where they wheeled in a sickly man (Úlfur Grönvold). They revive him, give him a black moustache and dress him up in a top hat and heavy riding boots. He suddenly grows a big belly and with a whip in his hand, rises from his wheelchair and starts commanding. They have no option but to obey their creation, The Ringmaster.

"With a smile on the face, we do tricks with much enthusiasm. We run in circles, we roll over, and we pose as a triangle. At last, we lovingly give each other the ultimate slapstick treatment, a cream cake in the face. We obey the Ringmaster.”
