Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir
is an Icelandic visual artist working with painting, drawing, performance art and other mediums, focusing on visible and invisible forces at play in the world. Professor in Fine Art at Iceland University of the Arts since 2025 and Dean of the Department 2016-2021. She studied fine art at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and Pratt University, New York and holds an MA degree in Philosophy from the University of Iceland.
In 2022-23 she held a research position at the Reykjavík Art Museum, curating an exhibition and publication on the lifetime achivement of visual artist Hildur Hákonardóttir (1938), as part of the ongoing research project on the role of women in Icelandic art within the Reykjavík Art Museum.
A founding member of Gjörningaklúbburinn / The Icelandic Love Corporation, an art collective active with its original members 1996-2016. The Icelandic Love Corporation has exhibited widely at home and internationally and their work can be found in major public and private collections. In 2024 The Reykjavík Art Museum acquired all artworks and archival materials by Gjörningaklúbburinn / The Icelandic Love Corporationfrom the years 1996–2016, that are not already in other collections.
